Hi,
some of you know already how hard I was trying to put FMV into destinies and how I all the time had a problems with
very choppy results + framerate dropping to very low values.
Today I finally realized that unoptimized theora library is not the main cause. So to anyone who has the similar problems,
theora is very sensitive on size + framerate of the video! If you want to have nice fluent FMV, use DVD format
(720x576 25fps) Bitrate can be anything up to 1024 and still it's fluent.
I am very happy about this discovery because I was already thinking about getting Binc instead.
Hope that helps

Ah, good to know, thanks for the hint!

What do you mean - that it works bad with low bitrate and low size videos, but OK with big DVD-like videos? Or that there are some "standard" settings which works best, but it has problems going to custom, non-standard settings?

the latter is correct. There are some aspect ratios the library is optimized for. But anyway, we are still struggling to find the best
way. Part of our problems was very stupid export of videos from max, and I was advised to make a TIFF export and create the
video in cutting software instead.

which max settings was used by you??
I have the same problem (export from max), the best result i got was with uncompressed .avi output.
But this is very hardware-intense, and i get a filesize from around 300mb for a 3 sec sequence.
but i didnt experiment very long, but with compressed .avi settings the theora output was with flicker on some areas on the screen.
what compressed setting works best, would be very interesting for me.

Hello metamorphium, have you some image of your game? Of that it treats? Or did not you continue doing it? :(
I ask you becouse I am a fanatic of the adventures FMV, I would be charmed with knowing how this class of games they work with the winermute engine.
