Title: Compatability question...
Post by: kalidor on February 20, 2007, 05:14:32 PM
Hello Everyone,

I am a computer geek who works for an independant film studio and we want to produce small games to accompany our films and involve our audience. I like the look of wintermute and would like to know what platforms people have been able to run the resulting games on.

Also is it required to download anything before a game can be run or does the user simply need the game files. Or to put it another way, is it possible to export to a stand alone exe file or similar?

Thanks for your help.

Jon

Hi!

WME is designed to run under Windows + DirectX 8.1, so Win 98 - Vista. You can compile your project to a standalone exe.

Thanks for the help Nihil, is it possible to run the games on any other platforms such as linux or mobile devices? Is there anyone who has had any luck with this? I know that the vast majority of users are already supported and thats great but I really want to get as many users as possible and don't want to impose any limitations if I can avoid it. I suppose it would run fine under an emulator such as WINE (for linux at least) as it isnt going to be particularly resource intensive, has anyone tried this?

Thanks again.

It will run on WINE (with some limitations).

It won't run on other devices like mobile.
