Title: motion capture
Post by: binary1 on April 23, 2012, 05:52:45 PM
Has anyone tried using motion capture with MotionBuilder and 3ds Max and then exporting to .x for use with WME?  Some other method?  I would like to animate some characters with motion capture but when I tried exporting from 3ds max, the models either don't show up or crash the program when I try to use them.  I've been using the settings suggested on the resource page for exporting from 3ds max.  Thanks.

Hey binary1!

I'm not an expert in either 3D Studio or it's MOCAP functions, but however you do the animation of your character(s), in the end it has to be keyframed and properly set according to this in the Panda exporter.
Therefore if the mentioned MotionBuilder relies on non-standard methods for animation, you need to somehow "convert" that into a normal keyframed animation, where the bones are properly moved. I think at least. Seems like the most technically logical answer.
