Also if I'm not mistaken you could set ignore back facing in WME.

Technical forum / Re: Dialogue Window
« on: April 29, 2010, 08:33:43 AM »
Hi there eborr :)
I had to code something exactly the same for Shades of Violet. Pretty much I integrated the actor.Talk inside of my own Dialogue.Talk function and I pass nothing into the actor.Talk function and only used it to have the skip text functionality.

I created a class that creates a dialogue window that can position the character portraits to the left, right or center of the screen and all of it is contained in a window which if centered shouldn't give you a problem when scrolling.

That's kind of the jist of it, I would post similiar code but I'm out right now. I could possibly do it tomorrow when I get some time.

Hope that helped a bit :)

Technical forum / Re: a question about languages
« on: April 29, 2010, 08:26:14 AM »
Hi there :)
So I've been around the forum for a bit now and while I don't think your question is a stupid one I do believe that it's a question that an absolute begginer at using engines or doing any programming would ask. I suggest learning something easy like flash or c# to understand some core concepts and then try looking at game programming as it's different in it's structure and the come back and use the WME scripting language. WME has it's own language that is based around c/c++. Once again WME has it's OWN scripting language that you can learn to use right now just by doing the tutorials contained within WME's help file.

Hope that helps.

Technical forum / Re: C++ Story generators
« on: March 21, 2010, 09:37:41 AM »
Hi there!
I created a plot generator that's really customizable.
You just add 6 entites and 6 actions and then it will randomly pick 1 of each.
Eg:
Entites
1) King
2) Queen
3) Detective
4) Patient
5) Alien
6) Pirate

Actions
1) Murdered
2) Discovered
3) Escaped
4) Unlocked
5) Conspired
6) Invaded

If I rolled a 3 and 5 then I would get Detective and Conspired. A Detective that conspired.

Let me know if you would like it.

Technical forum / XNA and .Net
« on: January 13, 2010, 07:21:54 AM »
Just wanted to find out something.
I am new to hardcore programming and I was just wandering if I could use the WME source assembly (if it's made with .Net) and use it in a new c#/XNA project and then export it out as an XBOX executable?

Community bulletin board / Re: What do you hate about WME?
« on: January 13, 2010, 03:10:57 AM »
1) No complete 3D
2) No editors for particles
3) Wish it had XNA support for 360
4) More sound manipulation
5) No Advanced shaders
6) No Physics
7) No advanced way to do conversations because it's too tedious and confusing to create branches and branches of switches to create a conversation
8) No iPhone support
9) No advanced GUI editor that allows you to see what the GUI looks like in a scene
10) No post rendering effects

Just curious.
What IDE did you use to create WME.

Scripts, plugins, utilities, goodies / Entity fading class/object
« on: December 22, 2009, 04:22:25 AM »
Hi guys,
I have created a bunch of classes/objects for SOV and I thought I would share them here when I can.
The first one is the fading of entities which is a really handy class.

Enjoy!!!

PS: It also works despite the FPS.

Hi guys,
Thanks for the replies :)
Sadly though none of those solutions worked.
The size is right in the scene editor.
I also tried re-importing and changing the FOV.

It only happens with big backgrounds that pan.
Anyone else?

Hi guys,
I'm still having this problem and it's screwing up the dev time.
Any help on it would be fantastic.

Pretty much when I import a 3D geo file into the scene editor it shows up but the position is wrong compared to my exported background png.
I haven't touched the camera so it should be the same. The thing is that it only happens with panning backgrounds (backgrounds that are bigger then the games res).
With normal backgrounds (ones that are the same as the games res) are imported they work fine.
Is there a way to fix this?
