Texture and transparency maps
« on: August 12, 2008, 06:27:53 AM »

Hey guys, I just wanted to know how to define more texture maps for a 3D model. I had a look at the trinity model and she has like 3 texture maps. If I have more than 1 it only works with one of them. Also I use transparency for the hair planes to make them look see through, can i apply that to my model in Wintermute, if so how to do it?

more than one texture per model is supported and it's a matter of your 3d package. WME reads .X file, which can contain multiple textures for a model.

Transparency is best achieved using png with alpha channel for textures.

Does anyone know why the results are all garbled and yuck/fuzzy?

looks like a mess in rgba texture to me. Whenever we got something like this, it turns out that the texture was bad.

There is also another problem. As you can see from the picture below I have a diffuse texture map and an opacity texture map. When I export though as .x using panda, it only exports the diffuse map and not the opacity map.

I'm don't understand why it won't export the opacity map. Help is greatly appreciated.

hm. but WME doesn't support diffuse and opacity maps as a separate textures, you need to have single diffuse texture with opacity stored in alpha channel. Some of the 3d guys will surely point you in the right direction.
