Quick "Blade Runner" question.
« on: May 26, 2009, 09:21:26 AM »

Hi all. A very quick question.
Is it possible to achieve in wintermute full animated backgrounds as well as video transitions like in Westwood's blade runner, but in a 1280x800 resolution?  By full animated backgrounds I mean Videos, just like in blade runner, where everything is moving (lights, objects, particles, shadows, etc.), pre-rendered 3d-backgrounds. I know I can't achieve what I want by any other means but pre rendered - looping videos. Is it possible? Can Theora videos and the Theora - entity method work well at this resolution?
Thank you very much.

You can have any kind of animated backgrounds you want by using video entities (theora). You are only limited by hardware. What's not possible is 100% smooth transitions between different scenes because there is a small pause every time you load a new scene.

Hi, Sorry for my english, Im czech

I have resolution it is possible. In Blade runner is not a Video. it is 24 (maybe 30) screenshots, whitch are created for cyclic animation. it is very simple for you, becose you may created x (10, 15, 20...) scrennshots for backgrounds in 1280x800 and it must be prepared for cyclik animation. Then use Spriteedit for creating Sprite nad animation background for your scene. Bat match and big scrennshots is for change scene slow... ::rock
