Technical forum / How to implement CUT SCENES
« on: July 14, 2004, 12:23:08 PM »
Hi all,
How can I impement cut scenes.
Example the main character walks up to an NPC and a cut scene cuts in showing a video of them closeup chatting.
Once this is played the video disappears and the player is left with the game screen again.

Also what format can the videos be in? AVI, WMV, MPEG etc

Many thanx

Hi all,
Here is a link to my web site (work in progress) for my Commercial point and click adventure - LIMBO of the LOST.
Myself and two others have rejoined since doing this game for the AMIGA CD32 back in 95.

http://www.geocities.com/stevenbovis/LIMBO_of_the_LOST.html

We want to do a PC version using this great engine.

using Poser 5 for character creation, MIMIC 2  for lip synching.

Hopfully going to publish it through THE ADVENTURE COMPANY.

If any serious coders wish to join MAJESTIC STUDIOS then let me know.

Technical forum / random generic responses
« on: June 17, 2004, 10:37:48 AM »
Hi all,
Is there a way that you can create 5 animations that are randomly picked when the player does a BAD click on somthing.

Example: - The player tries to click and item from his/her inventory onto a scene
The player tries to clcik an item onto an item in inventory to merge, build a new item.

The response is 1 of 5 animations showing the character srugging, shaking head etc.

Any GOOD clicking overrides the random responses for specific ones that are coded for. (eg. using the right key on a door lock etc)

Thanks.

Technical forum / dropping and picking up objects within a scene
« on: June 17, 2004, 09:08:49 AM »
Hi all.
I was wondering if anyone had some code or ideas how the scene can be defined for item placement.
For example the player can pickup a coin from the floor and drop it anywhere else on the floor or on a table etc. Not just in the place where the player found it (WME DEMO  - with the book object)

Also when the player picks up or drops an item depending on the area clicked on the character will perform different animations.
Example: Drops/picks up item on floor -character animation = crouches down
Drops/ picks up item on table/ledge etc - character animation = pickup/drop standing
Drops/ picks up item high up - Character animation = pickup/drop stretching on tip toe.

Many thanks to all at the forum for the help that is given.

Regards

Great it works!!! was a problem with the path to the sprite animations.
Checked the log and now it is sorted.

Many thanks.

Mnemonic - how would I move molly to a specific place first then run the random animation, example she walks to the bottom of the screen and then does the system selected animation.

All the time the user cannot control her.

Sorry about this I am new and just getting to grips with the scripting and the engine.

Thanks Mnemonic,
How could I test this in the  WME demo, apart from sprite animations where would I put the code?

The reason I ask is that I am using the demo as a base and building from that.
