includes and compiler errors
« on: July 06, 2003, 11:36:47 AM »

Hi,

hmm, when I've got some syntax error in a script file, that is included by some other script, the compiler only throws an error on the "#include" line of the calling script, but does not give me the error line in the included file... makes it hard to find errors.

Bug or something for the wishlist ? :)

Well, it's definitely not a bug, because I know about it ;) But it will requre some amount of work. Ok, let's add it to the wish list.

you can compile the included file alone anyway, no? If you know in what file is the error...

I just discovered the "Check Syntax" in the context-menu of script files in the Project Manager, so this works fine for me.

That's right, that works. But as mentioned above - I didn't see that function in the PM yet and I was too lazy to call the compiler manually in a command window, regarding all paths etc. ! Yes, call it lazy... I call it "searching for the most effective way". ;)

IMHO the most effective way is to set up some programmer's text editor to work with WME compiler. It's a definite time saver.

Yeah, I use Ultraedit the way the help file sais, and now cntrl+shift+0 is one of the most used shortcut in my computer  ;)

And the syntax highlight helps a bit.

Well, I am using total commander (remember :)) for all the file-management needs, with a syntax-hightlighing plugin. That's a real time saver for me... but the problem is that you can't make it work with a compiler as far as I know.
