Title: WAV files
Post by: deadworm222 on January 11, 2005, 04:02:32 AM
I have uploaded a WAV file for you that should be OK by WME. However, WME doesn't like this file. See here: http://www.foreverdreamstudios.com/book foldpage.wav

We have the same problem with all the other files made by our musician/sound effect editor person...

That link gives me 404. Anyway, wouldn't it be possible for you to convert the files to Ogg? It's more reliable and overall better solution IMHO. Plus, you don't even have to change your scripts. WME uses an Ogg file if there are both WAV and OGG files with the same name present.

Unfortunately not, since we haven't found an OGG conversion tool that would work well enough! The standard tool truncates filename lenght to 8, for example, and one other adds a pop-sound to the beginning of the file.

EDIT: I fixed the link in the first post. :)

What tool are you using. Because I'm using  ogg vorbis since pre1.0 release and I never had any of those two problems.

Just go to http://www.rarewares.org/ogg.html and check the package named "oggdropXPd V.1.7.11 using libVorbis v1.1.0" or if you prefer commandline (like I do) the package "Oggenc2.3 using libVorbis v1.1.0"

This file is mono and it seems that wme can't handle mono wav files. Anyway if you convert the file to ogg vorbis with the encoders I posted it works fine (and also the file is a lot smaller  ;))

OK, thanks for the tips and the explanation. :) Also, I tried converting the files, and surprise, the filename length didn't get cut to 8 characters  :D
