Blend mode: Overlay
« on: July 12, 2008, 09:46:08 PM »

It would be really cool and useful to have some more blending modes, notably "overlay" in addition to "additive", "subtractive" and "normal."   Overlay mode could in fact could enable us to do things with the visuals that are extremely useful. ;D

Overlay mode multiplies or screens the colors, depending on the base color. Patterns or colors overlay the existing pixels while preserving the highlights and shadows of the base color. The base color is not replaced but is mixed with the blend color to reflect the lightness or darkness of the original color.

...whatever this means. :D

Oops sorry, I guess I didn't explain that I meant it to be the same thing as the overlay mode for layers in Photoshop.
