Heh unfotunately true, I can't find anything locally that isn't FPS basically excepting the sims.  Civilization, and M$ mass produced trash. Anything else is essentially ignored. Kind of annoying when I consider that for a country that is "SO BIG" on first person shooters, I go into MUDs and say "WTF is with all the Australians here?" I mean there are thousands of players from a country where we're basically told that the only games out there worth buying are clones of something that hit the markets over 10 years ago.

My friends would get really annoyed with me over that watch. I'm the only one around here who seems to understand binary. The explanation on the face is frigging annoying though. Binary always reads from right to left from 2^0, 2^1, etc. *sighs* Nice idea though, read in the dark, AND perfect geek appeal except for the lapse of writing the value of each LED on the board.

*chuckles* Eventually I'll be able to take my computer into the bush with me. If the guys had worked with cars at all they might have twigged to a few innovations that would have made it much more usable. It definitely is a nice idea though.

Well I've returned fulltime to #WME, even though I'm not much of one for using the forums here. I had an incident involving a hacker back in October, been spending most of my time since disposing of him. Now he's waiting for trial in the US.

I guess I could say Beyond Good and Evil as the third, but it's more action than adventure. I lost all enjoyment of Full Throttle after FT2 got released (WTF are Lucasarts thinking these days).

Oh well I hope that I can produce a set of puzzles sufficiently challenging for MPA. You, and a friend both seem to think the idea has promise, I'd hate to let it down by lacking in the puzzles or anything else for that matter.

I'm a little wary of computer puzzles in games thanks to "Enter the Matrix" (I spent 3 hours unlocking all of that for a friend thanks to the irksome interface when you're using a XBox with the original control. And many other games which have computer orientated puzzles don't seem to be designed with any realism involved. I think the most interesting puzzle I've defeated was in a shareware Amiga game, and it wasn't so much a puzzle as such as just the player being cheap. Can't remember the games name but you had a robotic tank which you took through arenas fighting, and at the end of it you could upgrade and repair parts, if you designed to repair your parts yourself you got dumped into a wiring schematic which you had to fix before the timer ran out, strangely it can be a lot of fun, would have been interesting if you could have messed it up and have something wierd happen to your robot ie cross the wires in the treads and have the controls inverted.

Ah well, no real challenge in the puzzles in the future "adventure" games released by the big names anymore, usually they're a case of find the key these days or have nothing to do with the actual situation at hand.

Yeah, I remember when I bought the original GK: Sins of the fathers. I wasn't overly impressed with the looks of the game, but it did have an interesting storyline at least. I have never seen copies of 2 or 3 around here to buy so don't know what they're like (for some odd reason expansion packs and sequels often never make their way to Australia).

Hardly, I'm one of those people who confuses everyone because I have a very different way of thinking. It doesn't matter what your first language is.

I *was* wondering about that like I said. Oh well no harm done, I'm just used to all the acronyms they use around computers, about the only acronym I appreciate is TWAIN (Technology Without An Interesting Name).

No you just don't understand me, but that is ok not many people ever have or will.

OGG is more correct as a pronunciation aid, since Ogg looks like it's intended to be a word, not an acronym, so are you certain they got it around the right way, I'm trying to find a reference to such an issue on their site now.

Regarding the ditching I was talking about people abandoning the older formats in favour of newer formats without ever looking back and considering where such a format would be more suitable to the needs they had.

People have a bad habit of ditching the old for the new, even if there is no actual improvement, look at how many people snapped up copies of Windows ME when it first came out, when it is still the common opinion now that of the 9x operating systems Windows 98SE is still the best.

I personally don't know anything about OGG vs MP3, or even the OGG format. If it had been something like the DivX - MPeG4 - OGM debate, I think I would keep my mouth shut and stick with my own thoughts (I used to be part of an encoding group that uses OGM, involved with subtitling so some of the OGM features appeal to me enough to be willing to advocate it).
